Ever since I was a little girl, I've had a wild imagination. I was constantly making up stories, designing and crafting the stories into books before giving them to my mom to read and compliment me for a job well done!
To me, editing a manuscript is more than just going over the text and fixing the grammar. It's about creating a tone and a feeling that the readers get to experience. It's about grabbing the readers attention so they don't want to put the book, short story, essay, or article down and think about it long after they've read the last page.

About me
I graduated in the fall of 2022 with an MA degree in Practical Editing and Publishing from the University of Iceland and in 2021 with a BA degree in Sociology. During my masters, I had the opportunity to be part of the editorial team on the book Thank you for coming, which was prepared in collaboration with the creative writing students and published by UNA publishing. The book had a great reception and received good reviews for being an extremely enjoyable collection of poems and short stories. I then proceeded to do my internship at Storytel audiobooks in Iceland. There I got to partake and work on a variety of projects. I was involved in editing a wide range of manuscripts, did a fair share of translations, editing the audio of audio books and also learned a lot about copyrights, publishing and negotiation techniques, among other things. I then took on a few projects for Birtíngur publishing where I wrote articles and columns for the magazine Vikan and worked closely with the editor each week to ensure the magazine got published. During my time at Birtíngur I learned quite a lot about the process of publishing a magazine, such as designing and setting it up, formatting it and marketing. Next, I took on a position as a store manager in one of the largest bookstores in the country, the Student Bookstore at the University of Iceland. There I gained valuable experience as manager where I had a responsibility to ensure the bookstore was kept running. I learned the ins and outs of managing a bookstore, how to market books and stationery, as well as building a good network with authors and publishers that will be useful to me in the future.
For the last 3 years, along side my other jobs, I have worked as a freelancer. I have over the years worked both for Icelandic and foreign companies, where I have taken on various projects; everything from writing columns, translating texts, editing books and short stories, copywriting and taking care of web editing on various media. I have a good command of both English and Icelandic, as I grew up in Africa and Asia where I went to international schools my whole life. I therefore at times feel as if English is my mother tongue rather then Icelandic.
I have a lot of experience and passion that drives me forward in everything I do
and I can’t wait to work with you!
